Golf Course Superintendent

Stonebridge Golf & Country Club – Albany, GA
About the Role

Stonebridge Golf & Country Club is seeking a fully hands-on Golf Course Superintendent to lead the agronomic operations and day-to-day conditioning of our golf course. This role is not a desk-only or delegation-heavy position. We are looking for a Superintendent who is actively involved in daily course preparation, problem-solving in the field, and working side-by-side with the maintenance team. The ideal candidate takes personal ownership of course conditions and leads by example through presence, effort, and attention to detail.

The Superintendent will be a key member of the leadership team and will work closely with ownership and the General Manager to deliver consistent playing conditions, manage resources responsibly, and continuously improve the golf experience for members and guests
Key Responsibilities (Hands-On Emphasis)
  • Actively participate in daily course maintenance and setup, including turf evaluation and problem resolution
  • Lead from the field by working alongside the maintenance team as needed
  • Oversee all agronomic practices including mowing programs, irrigation, fertility, and chemical applications
  • Set and enforce high standards for course presentation, playability, and safety
  • Train, mentor, and motivate the maintenance staff through direct involvement and example
  • Manage the maintenance budget, labor planning, and equipment usage with discipline and efficiency
  • Prepare the course for tournaments, events, and peak play periods
  • Communicate clearly and regularly with ownership and management on course conditions, priorities, and
    improvement plans
Who This Role Is For
This role is for a Superintendent who enjoys being in the field, not just managing from the office. It is suited for a leader who believes credibility is earned by doing the work, not just directing it, and who takes pride in visible results and continuous improvement. A hands-on Assistant Superintendent ready to step into a lead role is encouraged to apply
Qualifications
  • Proven hands-on experience in golf course maintenance and agronomy
  • Strong turf management knowledge and practical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead crews through presence, consistency, and accountability
  • Experience managing labor, equipment, and budgets
  • Degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or related field preferred
  • GCSAA membership or certification a plus
Why Stonebridge
Stonebridge is a club that values effort, accountability, and pride in the product. Ownership is engaged, expectations are clear, and the Superintendent is empowered to make meaningful improvements — but is also expected to be directly involved in making them happen.
